Loughborough College

Loughborough, UK

The new Institute of Technology (IoT) building at Loughborough College has been designed to deliver an inspiring environment for both teaching and collaboration.

Sustainability was a core priority for this project, and Loughborough College were keen to partner with a furniture manufacturer that places environmental responsibility at the forefront of its operations. From responsibly sourced and recycled materials to energy-efficient production methods, every stage of the process was designed to minimise environmental impact. Low-emission logistics and careful installation practices further reduced the project’s carbon footprint, while packaging and waste were responsibly managed. This holistic approach ensured the furniture met functional and aesthetic needs while reflecting a genuine commitment to sustainability throughout its lifecycle.

Our team supplied and installed a full range of furniture, designed to create both inviting social areas and adaptable teaching spaces that reflect the college’s progressive vision for education. The breakout areas feature contemporary round tables paired with a mix of grey and yellow seating, alongside modern sofas that encourage interaction and group work in a bright, open setting. Classrooms were fitted with practical desks and durable seating, designed to adapt to a variety of teaching methods while ensuring comfort and functionality.

Our furniture solutions were carefully specified to complement the building’s light-filled architecture, with a focus on comfort, flexibility, and sustainability. The result is a series of dynamic, welcoming spaces that encourage innovation and engagement among both students and staff.

After a full procurement exercise, Elite were chosen to provide furniture for two of our newbuilds at the College. The Institute of Technology where the primary focus was on sustainable materials, manufacture & waste disposal and our new Sports Building, where robust but stylish breakout furniture was required.
A trip to the showroom in Goole really helped us to choose the breakout furniture and Emma made another trip to the College to help us choose the fabric finishes. After placing the order the factory advised that one of the chosen fabrics wasn’t an ideal material in high traffic environments, but we were guided to a more suitable fabric to ensure longevity of the product.
As with many new builds, we needed to delay delivery for one of the buildings and this was accommodated & new dates offered. The delivery team were super helpful and worked around other contractors leaving each room in the required layout. Any issues were dealt with promptly and snagging items rectified without argument.
We are very pleased that we chose Elite and look forward to more furniture projects.
